# validation_error

> Validation error (HTTP 422).

## When this happens

A route parameter or the request body failed validation. Route parameters are checked before the API key, so an invalid ID returns `422` even when the key is also wrong. The `errors` array lists up to 20 field problems, each with a JSON `pointer` and a `code`. See [field error codes](/errors-and-retries#field-error-codes).

## What to do

Correct the fields named in `errors` and send the request again. Do not retry an unchanged request.
