# receipt_delivery_outcome_ambiguous

> Receipt delivery outcome is ambiguous (HTTP 409).

## When this happens

A previous delivery attempt ended with an unknown outcome, such as a timeout after the request was sent. Retrying could post the receipt twice, so PayPathIQ makes no further attempt.

Nothing new was attempted. The ambiguous attempt stays visible on the receipt delivery resource.

## What to do

Do not resend. Only exact Source receipt evidence acknowledges the Payment and ends the ambiguity. Partner receipt lines are refused on a PayPathIQ-owned connection, so contact [help@paypathiq.com](mailto:help@paypathiq.com) with the `requestId`.
